⛳️ Girls Golf wins rain-shortened Kent County Classic

On August 17th, 19 teams converged on Saskatoon Golf Course today to compete in the annual Kent County Classic. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans, and instead of an 18 hole event, the 19 teams and 90+ golfers had to settle on playing 9 holes. The teams were divided into 2 divisions based on the 9 holes they played, but that didn't matter to the Lady Cougars as they came out victorious, outpacing Rockford by 4 strokes and Lowell by 7 to win the overall event.
Leading the Cougars was Sophomore Kelsey Preston who finished the day in 5th place overall at 2 over par 37. Junior Ava Wisinski was close behind with a 3 over par 38, followed by Senior Katie Cook (41), Sophomore Margaret Deimel (41) and Junior Claire Sullivan (47).
The performance gives the Girls Varsity Golf team a 🥇 and 🥈 place finish in the season's first two events that has included teams from all 4 MHSAA divisions. OK Gold Conference play begins this week Wednesday when the girls travel to Indian Trails Golf Course for the Ottawa Hills Jamboree.
