2022 CC Boys Golf Takes an Amazing 2nd at MHSAA State Finals

Today was the final day of the MHSAA Boys Varsity Golf State Finals in Frankenmuth at The Fortress Golf Course. 18 teams from around the State competed and in the end the Cougars of CC came up just short of repeating as State Champions, finishing second to Ann Arbor Greenhills HS. The Cougars scored a 2 day total of 632 (321/311) falling short of Greenhills' final 612 (306/306). Third place Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett finished with a 635 (316/319).
The Cougars were led by Sophomore Will Preston who scored a two day total of even par 144 (74/70), finishing in second place among all golfers and only a single stroke behind first place Cale Piedmonte-Lang from Ann Arbor Greenhills.
Sophomore Matthew Sokorai finished in the top 20 with a 160 (80/80), followed by Senior John Harmon at 163 (82/81), Senior Luke Preston with a 170 (90/80), and Junior Johnathon Meyer rounding out the Cougar golfers with a 174 (85/89).
The season ended with a very respectable runner-up finish following the program's first ever State Championship in 2021.
CC Varsity Boys Golf Wins 2022 MHSAA Regional!

- 18 stroke victory over second place Lake Odessa.
- There were a total of 20 teams in our Region.
- 94 golfers competed today at Old Channel Trail GC in Montague.
- Sophomore Will Preston led the entire field with a 1 over par 72!
- Senior Luke Preston finished with a solid 76, coming in tied for 3rd.
- Sophomore Matthew Sokorai finished tied for 5th with a 77.
- Senior John Harmon tied for 7th with an 83.
- Junior Johnathon Meyer finished with an 86 (tied for 16th).
CC Takes 2022 Boys OK Gold Conference Golf Championship!!

Catholic Central had an amazing showing at yesterday's OK Conference Golf Championship held at LE Kaufman Golf Course.
CC Highlights:
- Sophomore Will Preston finished first in the Conference Finals yesterday with a 2 over par 74. Will also finished with a season average of 37.2 outpacing his teammate Sophomore Matthew Sokorai, who finished second with a per round average of 38.6.
- In the conference finals yesterday, CC beat 2nd place Forest Hills Eastern by 11 strokes.
- Besides Will Preston's first place finish, Matthew Sokorai finished 4th (79), Junior Johnathon Meyer finished 8th (83) and Senior John Harmon finished 9th (84).
It's a great day to be a Cougar!!
