Updated on 06/10/2022
February 6, 2021
Grand Rapids, Mich. - Come out and support your Catholic Central Cougars this Tuesday, February 9th, as Pete's Grill & Tavern hosts a fundraiser for the high school team. The fundraiser, in which the establishment will donate 15% of the purchase of any food or drink to the Cougars, will run all-day at 2588 84th Street in Byron Center. In order to give the portion of your purchase to the Catholic Central team, the flyer attached below will need to be shown at the restaurant. You can either do this with a printed copy or show the advertisement on your phone. This is a great way to support not only your Catholic Central Cougars but also a local business during this challenging time, and both the team and the restaurant appreciate your help.
Cougar Hockey Puck Drop Scheduled for Friday
Updated on 06/10/2022
February 5, 2021
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Catholic Central Cougars will begin their 2020-21 season on Friday, February 12 against the Rockford Rams after the governor lifted the restrictions on indoor contact sports. This home opener marks the start of the third version of this season’s schedule, which contains only 12 games, half of the normal 24 game season. The Cougars will play ten in conference games, one home and one away against each team—Rockford, Reeths-Puffer, Byron Center, West Ottawa and Grandville. The remaining two games will be played against perennial rivals Forest Hills Central and Forest Hills Northern/Eastern.
As the Cougars gear up for the season, there are some regulations that are in place for the foreseeable future. According to the MHSAA website, “[all] participants” including players, coaches, referees, spectators, and broadcasters “must wear face coverings at all times – during all practices and non-game activities, and during games. A testing requirement may allow participants to remove masks while in active participation on the ice if they test negative that game day.” Two hundred fifty spectators will be allowed in the arena.
Most of the Catholic Central games will be broadcast on the Cougar Puck Radio YouTube Channel, and live coverage will begin around ten minutes before puck drop. The full schedule of games can be found here. Game stories of the broadcasted games will be available on the Catholic Central sports website after the game and highlights will be posted on the YouTube page around the same time.
