Emily Tomes Takes 5th at MHSAA Division 2 Cross Country State Finals

Junior Emily Tomes closed out the cross country season by finishing 5th at the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals. Emily had a strong start, moving into 8th place just past the mile marker. She remained in 8th place until the final 200m of the race where she made a big move to pass 3 competitors before crossing the finish line.
This is the second time Emily has earned All-State in cross country.
CC Cross Country Team Volunteers at Grand Rapids Marathon

The Catholic Central cross country team volunteered for the Grand Rapids Marathon on Sunday, October 16, 2022. This marks the 17th year the cross country team has served the running community by working at an aid station for the Grand Rapids Marathon. "I think this experience opens the eyes of our runners to the possibility of running after high school and taking on the challenge of training and completing a marathon," says Coach Fox. This year Catholic Central alumni Michael Klein (class of 2016) finished 22nd in 2:54:42 and Jacob Solytsiak (class of 2011) finished 443rd in 4:21:37.
