CC Boys/Girls Track & Field Continued Success at MHSAA State Finals

The track and field teams concluded their season at the MHSAA State Finals on Saturday. The boys team finished 39th out of the 56 teams that scored points. Joe Mullett led the boys team with a 4th place finish in the high jump, clearing 6' 6" which resulted in All-State Honors. Other individual finishers included Erickson Kunzler 11th in the 800m run (1:58.98), Brian Langlois 19th in the 3200m run (9:53.16), Devon Heckathorn 15th in the long jump (19' 11"), Emmanuel and Joseph Farage tied for 21st in the pole vault (11' 8"). The boys 4x200m relay consisting of Devon Heckathorn, Isaac Redmer, Lucas Thelen, and Joseph Farage finished 19th (1:35.42). Emily Tomes was the lone competitor for the girls track and field team. Emily finished 21st (5:30.47) in a very competitive 1600m run that had 5 girls run under 5 minutes for 1600m.

Congratulations to Brian Langlois - Metro Health Scholarship

Congratulations to Brian Langlois on receiving one of the seven scholarships awarded at the Metro Health Scholarship Track and Field Meet. In Brian's essay he shared how the sport of track and field helped him become a more confident individual and how this confidence has begun to impact other areas of his life. Brian established a new personal record of 4:33.50 for the 1600m run at the meet. He will be attending Aquinas College to study economics and continue his cross country / track and field career in the fall.

Joseph Farage & Gerard “Emmanuel” Farage sign Aquinas Letter of Intent

Joseph Farage and Gerard “Emmanuel” Farage signed their athletic letter of intent to continue their track and field career in the pole vault at Aquinas College. Both have made significant improvements in the pole vault this season and are currently ranked 1st and 2nd in MHSAA Regional 13. Joseph’s personal record is 11’ 6” which is a 2 foot 6 inch improvement from last season. Gerard’s personal record is 11’ 0” which is a 2 foot improvement from last season.
